New York is a great place to explore off-road trails and drive off-road vehicles. With its beautiful trails, well-maintained dirt roads, forested landscapes, canals, farms and open pastures, there are plenty of opportunities for an adrenaline-filled adventure. NORA offers low-speed off-road driving classes with i4WDTA certified instructors, as well as corporate adventure, team building and multi-day driving events. There are also several off-road parks in New York that offer a variety of activities for all skill levels.
Mettowee Offroad Extreme Park is one of the most popular off-road parks in New York. Located in Ellenville, this 4×4 off-road park features a 75-acre mountaintop facility with 120 acres of trails. It offers 4×4 training, driving and event tours, as well as mud swamps and rocky gardens. When you're finished, there are pressure washers to clean the mud.
Another great option is the 68-acre mountaintop facility offered by NORA. Here you can use your own 4-wheel-drive vehicle or rent one of their Jeeps for a day. Experienced trail guides will guide you through miles of pristine trails and obstacles to drive at your own pace. Public private classes (26%) are usually held on weekends and by appointment - registration is required, see the website for more information. As OHV parks decrease and become more restricted, off-road vehicle laws continue to change in their context and in their implementation.
It's important to stay up to date with the latest regulations so you can enjoy your off-roading experience safely and responsibly.
